On September 26, 2025, the Faculty of Animal Science and Veterinary Medicine (ASVM), University of Agriculture and Forestry (UAF), Hue University (HU), organized a scientific workshop entitled “Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine in Central Vietnam: Antimicrobial Resistance and Alternative Solutions.” The workshop aimed to enhance information exchange, share experiences in animal disease prevention and control, and promote sustainable approaches in treatment to mitigate antimicrobial resistance.

From Hue University of Agriculture and Forestry, representatives included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Hữu Văn – Vice Rector; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đinh Văn Dũng – Dean of the Faculty of ASVM; as well as faculty members, lecturers, and students of the Faculty.
In the opening speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Đinh Văn Dũng – Dean of the Faculty of ASVM – emphasized that antimicrobial resistance in livestock and veterinary medicine has become a global concern, directly impacting animal health, human health, and the environment. The workshop served as an important forum for scientists, policymakers, and businesses to exchange knowledge, share research outcomes and practical experiences, and propose alternative solutions to reduce the use of antibiotics in livestock production towards sustainability.


At the workshop, several presentations were delivered, including: Overview of Animal Husbandry and Epidemic Situation in the South-Central Region; Green Group – Antimicrobial Resistance in Livestock Production; Use of Herbal Medicine in Animal Husbandry and Research Findings from the Faculty of ASVM, among others.

Consequences and challenges in controlling antimicrobial-resistant bacteria

Alternative solutions to antibiotics: probiotics, herbal medicine, vaccines, etc.

Discussion, experience sharing, and fostering collaboration
The workshop provided an opportunity to strengthen linkages between scientists, regulatory agencies, and enterprises, contributing to new approaches in reducing antimicrobial resistance, protecting public health, and promoting sustainable livestock development.
